Project Description

Displacement is inevitable to humanity through different schemes, wars and natural Disasters are as real and inescapable as love and anger are intrinsic to humanity. It’s baked into existence to test our humane instinct to this horrific outcome and throughout history, we have failed to apply those humane responses on many occasions. Do you care to do so?

MASKAN unravels an exploration of architectural and urban interventions within refugee camps. This study seeks to re-imagine temporary settlements as resilient landscapes that echo the enduring spirit of displaced communities. It explores the Growing Tensions between the refugee and Hosting Population and envisions how architectural and urban interventions resonating with the evolving needs of its inhabitants. From communal spaces exuding ephemeral beauty to transitional dwellings pulsating with poignant resonance, each intervention becomes A stanza in A larger narrative of dignity and endurance. That would give the refugees a sense of self autonomy and respect that would facilitate a social and physical integration with the existing population and urban fabric.

Where MASKAN is more than a building or urban development but a set of regulations and principals where it could be applied around anywhere in the world to informal settlements to transform them into a more resilient and stable communities, where modular structures with the ability of personalization and expansion in a regular manner that fits there dwelling needs that could result into chaos and that’s where MASKAN comes into place to produced that needed chaos in a controlled manner.
