Project Description
The Samad Cultural Village project is an ambitious initiative dedicated to celebrating and preserving Jordan’s rich rural heritage. Focused on showcasing the unique lifestyle, traditions, and customs of Samad, the project aims to create an immersive cultural destination that honours the village’s history while enriching the experiences of both visitors and residents.
Key components of the project include the restoration and revitalization of historical landmarks and structures, ensuring that the architectural heritage of Samad is preserved for future generations. The development of interactive exhibits and educational programs is also central to the project, bringing the village’s history and traditions to life. These programs not only educate visitors but also actively engage the local community, fostering a sense of ownership and pride among residents. Community-driven initiatives are integral to the project, ensuring that local stakeholders are actively involved in the preservation and promotion of their cultural roots.
The visitor experience at Samad is meticulously designed to offer a comprehensive immersion into rural Jordanian culture. Starting at the visitor centre, guests are introduced to the theoretical aspects of rural life, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of the village’s heritage. As they proceed to Samad’s interactive museum, visitors engage in hands-on activities such as pottery making and Mehbash demonstrations, gaining firsthand insight into traditional practices. The journey continues in the plaza, where vibrant folklore displays further enrich their understanding of local traditions.
In the second phase of the experience, visitors can stay overnight in old village houses, providing a unique opportunity to embrace the authentic ambiance of rural life. This overnight stay allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the daily rhythms and customs of Samad, ensuring a memorable and deeply personal cultural encounter.Through these thoughtfully crafted experiences, the Samad Cultural Village project not only preserves the village’s heritage but also creates a dynamic environment that attracts tourists and cultural enthusiasts, while fostering a deep sense of pride and belonging within the local community.
