The Resonance, Tehran Visual Art Center

An interactive visual arts center in Tehran that transforms architecture into a dynamic, responsive environment shaped by art and public engagement. Inspired by intertwining “threads,” the building integrates kinetic façades and sound-responsive technology to create an ever-evolving spatial and urban experience.

Project Description

The “Resonance” project focuses on designing a Visual Arts Center in Tehran with an approach to interactive architecture a pursuit to create a space where art, humans, and the urban environment engage in a living dialogue. Since the goal was to establish a level of interaction on a larger scale, certain elements were defined in the architecture of this project, referred to as “threads.” The main structure of the project is composed of these intertwined threads, some of which move dynamically and linearly. These moving elements, or “flaps,” respond to ambient sounds, generating a dynamic rhythm, and the skyline of the project changes multiple times throughout a 24-hour cycle.
The architectural spaces are organized according to diverse artistic functions from secluded studios at the site’s elevations to open, collective spaces that intertwine with the natural topography through architectural lines. The project’s circulation paths guide users through a fluid experience of enclosed, semi-open, and open spaces, transforming architecture into a lived and evolving experience.
