Project Description

Ninh Thuan – a land sculpted by scorching sun and relentless wind – cradles the ancient soul of the Cham people. Here in My Nghiep, the rhythmic clack of the loom is not merely a sound; it is a heartbeat, a “sacred pulse” echoing centuries of memory. Yet, this intangible heritage faces a fragile existence, risking a fade into silence where once there was the vibrant song of creation.

The Cultural Center arises from this arid earth not as a static museum, but as a living loom. Its massing is conceived as an architectural tapestry, where the logic of weaving – the warp and weft – dictates form. Sloped roofs, shaded verandas, and interlaced courtyards are woven together to shelter the artisan’s hand from the harsh climate, reinterpreting vernacular wisdom through a contemporary lens.

More than a structure, the project unfolds as a sensory journey. Visitors traverse thresholds of light and shadow, guided by the textures of brick and the sounds of craft. At its core lies the Festival Courtyard – the village’s spiritual anchor – where rituals and daily life converge. Here, architecture becomes a stage for the community, a space where the past is not just displayed but actively lived.

Ultimately, the My Nghiep Cultural Center stands as a resilient vessel for identity. It is an emblem of gratitude to the ancestors, safeguarding the fragile threads of tradition while projecting the proud voice of the Cham people into the future—ensuring that the fabric of their culture remains unbroken.
