Project Description
The main reason for choosing the site was its multitude of important problems at the Jordan and environmental levels. The project aims to raise people’s awareness towards the Dana Reserve to address and maintain its problems, as it is the largest environmental reserve with significant environmental diversity in Jordan. It suffered from Government decisions to cut off part of the copper extraction. This affects the movement of animals in the reserve and the growth of rare wild plants, overfishing, overgrazing and the problem of silhouette winds (due to power plants) affecting migratory birds’ diversion, as well as soil erosion resulting in desertification.
The master plan was inspired by the very nature of Dana, as the project was part of the land (we were and would be trees and stones). Architectural design began to interact with the ground and control the user’s feelings, each area entered by the user feels different. Exploration was part of the project’s journey, with each area of the project providing a view of part of the reserve. The basic design concept is to create interactive geographic areas of high, functional and aesthetic value. The project is divided into three main sections: Exhibition Department, Educational Department, and Community Department. The user moves between the three sections, where in each section different feelings of awareness, science and learning are formed.
The main entrance to the project is clear and strong, and it is identified by two blocked walls that attract the user, the stairs begin to descend in line with the terrain of the ground at the end of the stairs, noticing a solid wall, giving a forbidden look at the reserve, giving them a sense of mystery, confusion, loss and wondering what will happen next. He then discovers that there is an exterior staircase attached to nature, not surrounded by a wall, to get here into the hallway, and the retrieval wall here is the Dana rocks themselves. The exhibition contains samples and photographs of rare and extinct Dana fauna and flora as well. When this part is finished, it comes out to the podium where it is exposed to the external soil. The user continues his journey with the view of mass and the wall of mass. It reaches the slope, where it feels a change in the type of rotation, indicating a change in function, the aim of the entire movement is to notify the user of the protection to give protection to the reserve and to protect plants, animals and resources The user continues his journey with the view of the block and the block wall ,He arrives at the ramp, where he feels a change in the circulation type, which indicates a change in the function , The goal of the whole movement is to notify the user of the protection to give me protection for the reserve and to protect the flora, fauna and resources And when it reaches the end of the project, it senses and connects the project to the reserve through observation.
