Project Description

‘ Đồng Tháp Mười cò bay thẳng cánh

Nước Tháp Mười lấp lánh cá tôm ’

Dong Thap Muoi is an inland wetland in Mekong Delta, in the south of Vietnam. Relying on water of the Me kong river with low lying terrain and many interlacing canals, this area is seasonal flooded for 4 months an nually, creating the unique ‘floating season’.

nature – culture – a continous flow

The interaction among natural factors has formed DTM natural landscapes with typical ecosystems and rich biodiversity with hundreds species of bird, fish and reptile. Such environment have nourished the people with diverse living habits and colorful cultures.

a lost connection

After a time of over-exploitation for economic devel opment, the natural ecosystem of the DTM wetland has seriously degraded. The natural landscape is disappearing and the people are losing bond with the ecology they live in.

Tram Chim National Park, located in the core of the old DTM floodplain, was established to preserve natural wetlands and protect various rare birds and other endangered species. Positioned on the park’s outskirts, the project seeks an oppotunity to rebuil the connection between human and the disappearing Dong Thap Muoi wetland. Where the core idea is to create a place for better understanding the nature ecology, the project would foster further conservation practices and establish a harmonious life between the wetland and the local people.
