Eco-Tourism Socio-cultural Village

The Eco-Tourism Village fosters meaningful interaction between local communities and visitors by integrating community-led accommodations, cultural activities, and local economic participation. Tourism becomes a shared experience where residents actively shape daily operations, preserve cultural identity, and offer visitors authentic engagement while promoting social sustainability and long-term environmental responsibility.

Project Description

Concept and Identity

“Spring and Memory Village” emerges from a deep understanding of history and culture as fundamental elements in shaping architectural space and granting it an authentic, place-based identity. The project goes beyond functioning as a touristic destination, aiming instead to establish a meaningful relationship between architecture and the local community, where space becomes a vessel for memory and identity.

Redefining the Tourism Experience

The project seeks to redefine tourism by shifting the visitor experience from passive observation to active participation. It responds to the limitations of conventional tourism models that focus primarily on heritage sites and landmarks, often neglecting deeper cultural understanding and everyday community life.

Architecture as Cultural Dialogue

By emphasizing cultural identity and reviving heritage, architecture becomes a medium for civilizational dialogue. The project allows visitors to engage with the spirit of place, explore daily rituals, and experience local traditions, fostering a sense of belonging rather than detachment.

Community and Visitor Engagement

A central objective of the village is to strengthen interaction between visitors and the local community through shared activities led by residents. These include agriculture, handicraft production, traditional workshops, and educational experiences. Such programs enable direct cultural exchange, empower local residents as active participants, and offer visitors authentic, immersive encounters.

Sustainable Living Environment

The village is envisioned as a living environment that harmonizes with nature and reflects the spirit of Ailoun. Sustainable design strategies, locally sourced materials, and low-impact development support environmental stewardship while reinforcing the local economy and social fabric.

Vision and Impact

Ultimately, “Spring and Memory Village” represents an eco-cultural tourism model that balances heritage preservation, social engagement, and sustainability. The project proposes a replicable architectural approach capable of generating long-term cultural, environmental, and economic value for local communities in Jordan and beyond.
