Project Description

Project Idea
It was about the port and how to solve the problems within it, so the project was divided into two parts.
The first part is the development part that revolves around the port in general, including the lack of administrative buildings, a health department, a police department, the construction of a vertical garage, the old piers that cannot bear heavy loads, the creation of piers that can bear heavy loads, and their construction with concrete materials with casting. On site, converting the function of old piers to carry light loads. The second part is the urban design, which aims to find a suitable location for the station for travelers after it was in the middle of the commercial sidewalks and make it the first view seen by those coming from the sea to the city. The station was built according to its specifications, and its own administrative section, hotel and commercial mall were created. Health center, police, hypermarket and fish market, so take the idea from the design part. With an Arabic inscription, the station is completely separate from the port, giving it complete privacy and seclusion.

Project goals

1-Within the first development part

A-The old sidewalks: The old sidewalks can no longer bear large loads, and that is because the date of their construction is very old. That is, the sidewalk is fixed through columns that are located under the water for stabilization, and during continuous periods it is maintained, which is very expensive through the cathode and anode process to remove the damage that is formed every period because iron is a material that is exposed for damage under water and the lack of adequate protection. Now, according to the new methods, concrete pieces are poured in situ and lowered under water to install the sidewalk. They are expensive, but they do not need maintenance, not after 60 years, maybe once.

B-Services for workers: Services for workers Because there is a lack of services for workers, so there must be a rest room on each sidewalk and restaurants instead of randomly distributed caravans, which do not provide means of comfort because the port is an isolated area from the city, so all necessary services must be available in it, such as a health center for the sake of workers.

C-sidewalks: Since every company has a berth or more than one berth, so the goods are unloaded on the berth, and in light of the absence of safety on the property and the large number of cases of theft, so there must be a berth isolation from another berth, so it was reached to isolate the berths through a green belt, adding to the character of the hot climate, It provides shade and reduces dust in the dusty atmosphere in that area while reducing humidity

2-The second part is the urban design part

The passenger station is the only station located in Iraq in the Umm Qasr area within the port. But this station is not working and its location is not suitable because it is located within the commercial sidewalks that are not suitable for visitors and because of Gulf 25 and the large number of visitors, which called for the availability of this station and being an important matter that should not stop working because Basra has now become a tourist destination and because it is an economic means for the citizen instead of planes and gives better view
