The project explained community development as a collaborative and systematic practice of improving the overall quality of life in Sweimeh through mediums such as production, developing the skills, outreach, and reinvestment of the community.

al-Sweimeh (the forgotten village) is one of the marginalized communities, their lands were exploited for the investments for being the entrance to the tourism.

their people lost their craft (agricultural) with their lands, and their productive women need a place to embrace them to say “We Are Here”

what is the idea of the project?

creating a place to embrace the people of Sweimeh’s local skills  and engage them with the investment development in the region through food production cycles through producing local products by local hands engaging the agro-tourism and marketing these products  to dispose of the surpluses of agro-food in Jordan valley with no waste even inside the project through the recycling process (waste management)

Brief of the Project

the project is community development for Al-sweimeh village, dealing with poverty and the marginalization of the forgotten village, which occurred due to neglecting their local skills and stealing their lands to use them in the anti-human development projects

How to achieve the goal?

improving Quality of life for the people of sweimeh by emerging their human and natural resources, employing them in the project through the tools available on the site

Spaces and Places

the project will create spaces for the community interaction with the tourists in an Interactive environment, the products will be exhibited in this place after investing the local skills through the production process of the raw materials and transforming them into a national product with local hands and the tourist will be engaged with this process to live a new experiment in sharing the local community their daily work

for whom the project is?

the people of sweimeh are the structure for the production process of the project, the success of this production process is depending on investors and tourists as consumers and the farmers as suppliers

The Site Challenges :
1- the water stream across the site from the mountains to the Dead sea, so we used this water stream to bring life to the project through two systems :
A- the Aflaj system
is a system of tapping rainfall water which is led by man-made channels too far spaces from the stream where it is used for irrigation and human purposes

B-the harvesting system
the extra rainwater that will fall in winter will be collected in tanks that are connected to the water stream so it can be used in the multi places in the project

2- use the agricultural resources on the site
al salm tree: that is dangerous so we decided to recycle it
by making Al-salm honey from it.
Also, the palm trees that the people farm in the same project will be recycled to create ropes and shelters from their trunks

3-the surpluses of agro-food in Jordan valley so we decided to dispose of these surpluses in our project by the production cycles to produce products and sell them in the same project and recycle the waste from it to achieve one of the most important goals of our project that is NO WASTE.
