Project Description
The Crafted Village in As-Salt, Jordan, is a cultural and vocational hub that preserves traditional Jordanian crafts while offering hands-on training and educational opportunities. The project addresses the need for cultural preservation and skills development in the community, providing a space where heritage and learning come together. Visitors can explore interactive workshops, craft markets, and educational spaces, experiencing Jordanian traditions firsthand. Artisans demonstrate pottery, weaving, metalwork, woodworking, and textiles, allowing both locals and tourists to engage directly with these crafts. The village also offers vocational training for youth in practical skills such as community health, hospitality, hybrid vehicles, and business management, empowering them to pursue sustainable careers and contribute to their communities. By combining education with tourism, the Crafted Village creates a unique environment where culture, learning, and leisure coexist. It supports local artisans, encourages entrepreneurship, and provides immersive experiences that connect visitors to Jordanian heritage. Through its integration of tradition, skill-building, and tourism, the project goes beyond a typical cultural site—it becomes a living platform for community growth, education, and cultural engagement, demonstrating how architecture can support both heritage preservation and modern social development.
